Urological Society of Kashmir Formally Launched with a Vision for the Future of Urology in Jammu & Kashmir
“One Society, One Vision, One Future”
We are proud to announce the formal launch of the Urological Society of Kashmir (USK), marking an important milestone in the development of urology in Jammu & Kashmir.
The launch ceremony was held on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at 5:30 PM at The Lalit Grand Palace, Srinagar, under the theme “One Society, One Vision, One Future.” The occasion brought together urologists, senior medical professionals, academicians, and distinguished guests to celebrate the establishment of a unified professional and academic platform dedicated to advancing the field of urology in the region.
With the formation of USK, we take a significant step towards bringing Kashmir’s urologists together under one society, creating a common platform for professional collaboration, academic exchange, research, education, and the continued advancement of urological care.
Our Vision and Purpose
The Urological Society of Kashmir has been established with a clear vision: to promote excellence in urology through education, scientific collaboration, research, professional development, and mentorship.
As our society grows, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for continuing medical education (CME), scientific meetings, academic discussions, research collaboration, workshops, skills development, and knowledge sharing. We also place particular importance on supporting young urologists, residents, and trainees by providing them with opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues, engage in scientific activities, and develop their professional and academic careers.
Speaking about the vision behind the Society, our Founding President, Dr. Syed Javid Qadri, emphasized the importance of unity and collective progress:
“The formation of the Urological Society of Kashmir is a significant step towards bringing together urologists across Kashmir on a common professional and academic platform. Our aim is to build a society that promotes knowledge, research, collaboration, mentorship, and excellence in patient care. By working together, we can create a stronger future for urology in Jammu & Kashmir.”
Our vision extends beyond professional development. We believe that stronger academic collaboration and continuous advancement in clinical skills ultimately contribute to better patient care. Through collective learning, research, innovation, and exchange of experience, we aspire to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of urological services across Jammu & Kashmir.

The Society begins its journey under the leadership of a dedicated founding team:

The launch ceremony was honoured by the presence of distinguished senior professionals and leaders from the urological community.
We were privileged to welcome Prof. Kamaljeet Singh, President of the North Zone Urological Society of India (NZ-USI), as the Chief Guest. His presence reflected the strong professional relationship between USK and NZ-USI and highlighted the importance of collaboration and guidance from established urological societies.
We were also honoured by the presence of our Guests of Honour — Prof. Ghulam Jeelani, Prof. Muneer Khan, and Prof. M. Saleem Wani — whose presence added great significance to this important occasion.
We sincerely acknowledge the support, encouragement, and guidance extended by NZ-USI as we establish our Society. This bond will remain an important part of our journey as we seek to strengthen academic and professional collaboration and create new opportunities for urologists and trainees in the region.
The launch ceremony was followed by dinner, providing an opportunity for colleagues and guests to interact, connect, and celebrate the beginning of this new chapter together.
Looking Ahead: One Society, One Vision, One Future
The launch of USK is not an endpoint; it is the beginning of a shared journey.
In the years ahead, we look forward to building a vibrant academic community that encourages continuing medical education, scientific exchange, research, innovation, mentorship, and professional collaboration. We aim to facilitate platforms where established urologists can share their expertise while young urologists and trainees can learn, participate, and grow.
We envision stronger collaboration within Jammu & Kashmir and beyond, greater participation in scientific and academic activities, and meaningful partnerships with national and regional urological organizations.
Above all, our purpose remains centred on advancing urology and contributing to better, safer, and more effective patient care across Jammu & Kashmir.
We warmly invite urologists, doctors, medical professionals, academicians, researchers, trainees, and the wider medical community to join us in this journey.
Together, we can build a stronger professional community, encourage academic excellence, advance research, nurture the next generation of urologists, and contribute to the future of urological care in our region.
One Society. One Vision. One Future.
